All about Ms. Delprete
Hi White Oak students and families! I am so excited to be back at White Oak this year.
I graduated from Elon University in 2019 (Go Phoenix!) and this will be my third year at White Oak Elementary. I am currently working towards my Masters in Reading and Literacy Education from East Carolina University(Go Pirates!) and it has ignited a passion for teaching reading and allowing students to experience the world through text!
I am originally from Maryland but I fell in love with North Carolina during my college years and just had to stay for more. In my free time I LOVE to exercise, cook, and drink ALL the coffee! On the weekends my favorite way to explore is to find new restaurants and unique coffee shops. Since I am from the Chesapeake Bay area, I love water sports including kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, and waterskiing.
A few favorites of mine are...
Food: Sushi
Drink: Cold brew with Cold Foam
Football Team: Baltimore Ravens
Baseball Team: Baltimore Orioles
Hockey Team: Washington Capitals
Color: Light Blue
Store: Target
I have known that teaching is my calling since I was a third grade student and the only thing I wanted for Christmas was an overhead projector (old fashioned, I know)! Although the technology has changed and my stuffed animals are no longer my "students', my love for education has only grown stronger. I cannot wait to share this love for learning with each student and have so much fun as we explore first grade together. The most important lessons that I believe I can teach your child this year are to always be curious and never give up. I know we will have an amazing year together and I can't wait to get started!
